My portraits bring to life the essence of moments and relationships.

I strive to go beyond likeness, to render an atmosphere, the tenderness of a gesture & the person behind the seater’s expression

Your Portrait Project

Every portrait begins with a conversation about your project and what matters most to you. I will guide you through the options so that we arrive at the best possible portrait.

I work mainly from photographs that you send me. Where needed, and where distance allows, I am happy to travel to you to arrange a sitting and take my own photographs.

Either way, we will review the material together and choose the strongest images, taking into account both the subject and the quality of the photographs, which need to be detailed enough for me to work from.

The Painting Process

I work in both oils and pastels. A portrait can take anything from a couple of weeks to several months, depending on the project and the medium. Oil paintings often need several months to dry before the final varnish can be applied.

I will send you updates at each key stage, as it is always exciting to watch a portrait take shape and come to life.

Prices, Payment and Delivery

Pastel portraits range from £500 to £2,000, depending on size and complexity. Oil portraits range from £900 to £7,000 for very large paintings with several subjects. We will agree on the best option at the outset, and every price includes suitable framing, so your portrait arrives ready to hang.

Once we have agreed on the project and the price, I ask for a 50% deposit before starting work, with the balance due on completion.

Whenever possible, I deliver the painting in person, because the unveiling of a portrait is always a special moment. If the distance is too great, I will arrange secure, insured transport, and the cost will be included in the price we agree.
